WCAX reports on Ripton's General Store. More precisely, the story concerns the ice box.
The story begins about 25 years ago, when an old freezer gave out. The ice supply company shipped a new one, and the installer got the decals mixed up. Store owner Dick Collitt says, "He spelled it wrong. I-E-C rather than I-C-E. And I couldn't believe he was doing that. But I thought it was pretty funny."

I love these. If you look for them, they're all over. My dad was a sign painter during the depression, and as we were growing up, he would call out these transpositions. He said as a rule, the larger the letter size, the easier it is to screw it up.
